The theme of this year?s meeting is Catching the Wave: Changing the Tides of Health Education and Health Promotion. It will focus on the transformations in health education that are being brought upon by changes in demographics, language barriers, culture, and technological shifts as well as the new challenges that are currently being faced by health educators. In addition, this meeting will examine how health education professionals can catch the wave of evidence-based research and practice and ensure that their programs and interventions withstand the shifting tides and tests of time. Creating the Change You Want to See in the World Abstracts are encouraged that address policy and social change as foundations for improved health; social determinants of health; developing partnerships with non-traditional partners (city planners, anthropologists, business and others) to address health; defining and influencing community agendas to include health; improving community health by building community capacity; developing professional and community leadership; and health promotion in a business world. Health Across the Life Span Abstracts are sought that illustrate new research, programs or approaches to improving the impact of social determinants of health along the life course; the impact of societal changes on youth; healthy aging; creating a healthy environment for reduced risks across the lifespan; extending the impact of family; health of LBGT populations; health in a global village; tobacco impact across generations and best programs and practices.
